Hello My Tea Drinking Friends,
Wow! I don't know about you guys, but my April is starting off FANTASTIC! I heard that Mt. Hood is getting dumped on right now, so I thought I should go check it out first hand. It's all true. They are getting a blizzard up there and that means the snow was sweet and delicious (oh, I ate some for sure). I was able to squeeze in 9 beautiful runs and make it back to P-town in time to get a half day in at work. Oh, and I saw a coyote, osprey and a deer on the way. The perfect day. Well, almost perfect. If I would have drove over to Maupin like I planned, to fish the Deschutes, then there would be a good chance it would've been the perfect day. Next time I guess. One last thing, before I go up to the mountain I usually make a Stanley thermos full of some type of tea or herbal infusion and I would like to say that these thermoses are the best
ever. It keeps my tea hot all day long, so when I get off the slopes or off the river, I have hot tea waiting for me. We don't sell them, but I would recommend them fully. They are the green metal ones and they can be found at many hardware stores or Fred Meyer.
I hope you all got a chance to feel sand on your toes, wake up to warm sunshine on your face and most importantly, not set your alarm for a few days during spring break. I think spring break should be mandatory for everyone. It is such a rejuvenating time and I am looking forward to ours in May.
Hibiscus Flowers
Speaking of rejuvenation, Katherine and I have been loving this hibiscus drink lately. We can't seem to get enough of it. With summer and warm days right around the corner (I promise they are coming) you might want to get this drink recipe down, so you can enjoy it all summer long. We just got these Egyptian Hibiscus Flowers in and we love them and we think you will as well.
Hibiscus Cooler
2 cups of Egyptian Hibiscus Flowers
3/4 cup of sugar or agave
8 cups of water
In a stainless steel pan, bring 4 cups of the water and hibiscus flowers to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes and remove from heat. Add sugar or agave and stir until dissolved. Transfer to large glass jar and add remaining water. When cool enough, transfer jar to refrigerator and let steep for 2-4 hours. Filter hibiscus flowers. If it is to tart, more sugar (use simple sugar so it will dissolve) or agave can be added for desired sweetness. Get ready to relax. This drink takes me to a sunny beach within seconds.
* try adding fresh squeezed lime, grapefruit or orange juice for added deliciousness
* add a little vodka, shake it real good and serve it in a martini glass for a cocktail party
* we haven't tried this yet, but we think it would make a great ingredient to a hibiscus margarita
A few new teas to tell you about

Drink Foxfire Teas here!
A few new places to drink Foxfire Teas and a few places that have been serving our tea for quite some time.
Ned Ludd- Jason and Ben at Ned Ludd are cooking up some super phenomenal food and I want to let you all know about this place on MLK and NE Shaver. Everything is woodfired and full of flavor. When I ate at Ned Ludd, we had a group of 10 people, so we ordered a bunch of items of the menu and passed them around so we could all taste everything. It worked out beautifully and if you have the chance I would recommend trying as much as you can.
Night Light Lounge- They will be serving a few cocktails made with some of our tea. Exciting! Tea and cocktails go together so well.
Vita Cafe- Looking for some delicious vegan and vegetarian food? Check out this socially minded restaurant on Alberta Street. If the weather is nice, you can go out back and challenge a buddy to a game of bocce ball.
